A Word on Sustainability
Sustainability remains critical to Valneva as we strive to advance vaccines for better lives.
How we are addressing unmet medical needs
Our daily activities are guided by our three ESG pillars: Protecting Lives, Reaching People and Protecting the Planet. As Valneva expands its global reach, we pride ourselves on taking these three pillars into account, growing responsibly and in harmony with our sustainability values.
Valneva has recently entered a new phase of its sustainability journey with the creation of two new ESG committees that oversee and pilot environmental, social and governance activities across the Company. Supported by these two committees, our ESG Director designed a new sustainability strategy for the Company in 2024.
Valneva is a specialty vaccine company, and since our creation in 2013, we have worked on potential protective measures against dangerous illnesses such as Japanese encephalitis, cholera, chikungunya and Lyme disease. Today, the understanding that infectious diseases represent an immense public health threat is widespread and undeniable. The Company continues to invest in research & development, in an effort to bring us closer to a world in which no one dies or suffers from a vaccine-preventable disease.
To further that vision, Valneva also dedicates resources to charitable organizations whose work supports access to healthcare in their local communities. Doing business in an ethical manner is part of Valneva’s DNA.
Valneva’s growth would not be possible without the commitment and talents of its greatest asset: our workforce. No matter where our employees are located, we are proud to foster a positive atmosphere across our offices in Europe and North America. Our Chief People Officer sits on our Executive Committee and continues to enhance our employee experience.
Valneva also recognizes the need to preserve the environment and use natural resources responsibly. Sustainable growth is an important aspect of our ESG approach. From the production line to our support functions, reducing our carbon footprint, lowering the consumption of energy and natural resources, and limiting the creation of waste are goals that we work actively to achieve.
